McDermott's Sports Centre was founded in 1978 by Sean & Sadie McDermott and is one of the longest established sports shops in Ireland; it is now managed by their son Dermot who has re-branded the business and created Monaghan's first run specialist and multi sports store. Dermot has worked in the sporting goods industry all of his life and is passionate about keeping fit and (trying!) to live healthy. Running is his sport of choice now, though he played a bit of Gaelic football in his time too, representing Monaghan from 1996 to 2004 and is still involved with his local GAA club.
